Spirit Hound is proud to partner with a local Apiary, Bee Squared, to bring you a one-of-a-kind take on honey whisk(e)y.

This isn't a saccharine-sweet flavored whisky, but a true straight whisky that is finished in used honey barrels. Spent Spirit Hound malt whisky barrels go to the folks over at Bee Squared, where raw honey is placed in the barrels and left to absorb whisky essence for 90 days (getting turned once a day!). 

The honey barrel then comes back to Spirit Hound, where we fill it with a finished (2-year-old) whisky and let it sit for 3 months. The result is a delightfully balanced, rich, not-too-sweet whisky that shows just how delicious a Colorado collaboration can be.

We will release this special product on August 24th; the whisky will be available all day, but join us at 5 pm for special honey release events. You'll have an opportunity to meet the beekeepers from Bee Squared while sipping cocktails specially crafted for the occasion. We'll be offering some sweet treats for purchase: our friends at Rise Artisan Bakery in Berthoud are making a baklava with whisky honey, and the folks at the St. Vrain Market bakery in Lyons will provide a dessert with honey whisky, TBD.

Starting at 5 pm, we'll have a special gift pack containing both whisky honey and honey whisky available for purchase (price TBD).
